Summer Camp – Nurse/Assistant Summer Camp Director

 

The summer camp nurse/assistant summer camp director is a temporary position from June 2 – July14, 2025, weekdays only.  The hours of operation are 8:30-4:30. This position works in conjunction with the director of auxiliary programs and outreach. Summer duties and qualifications included are described below.  

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current license in the state of Georgia.
  • CPR Certified – Health Care Provider.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in school nursing or other acute care setting such as, pediatrics, critical care, emergency room, urgent care, or related specialties. Pediatric and adolescent medical experience preferred.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and basic first aid skills.
  • Ability to function in a clinical setting, providing first aid and first responder services with limited staff resources.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to utilize computerized documentation system.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain health records and daily log of clinic visits.
  • Review camp registrations and work directly with parents and campers regarding specials needs, allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Provide cafeteria staff with a list of all students with life-threatening food allergies.
  • Complete an Occurrence Report for any significant event/injury and follow up, as necessary.
  • Carry communication radio and be ready to respond to all on-campus emergencies and contact 911 and parents, as needed.
  • Determine the health needs of students by means of nursing assessment and initiating interventions as necessary.
  • Provide health education and first aid services to students, faculty, and staff who are ill or injured.
  • Administer medication (both routine and as needed) to students, while monitoring for and documenting effectiveness or adverse reactions.
  • Notify parents of injuries and significant events.
  • Assists the summer camp director with weekly camp duties such as monitoring carpool, meeting with the faculty to discuss campers, monitoring lunch service, and taking photos of the summer camp experience and making social media posts.

  

Personal Characteristics:

  • Grounding in the Christian faith.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty/staff, parents, and students.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new software applications needed for accessing and maintaining student records and camp files.
