Wesleyan School is accepting applications for a qualified Orton-Gillingham practitioner to provide on campus reading remediation to identified students. This practitioner would be responsible for working one on one with students before, during, and after school using the Orton-Gillingham approach to focus on the specific learning needs of individual learners. This part-time independent contractor would also have some flexibility with scheduling. The practitioner will collaborate with a team of Orton-Gillingham specialists, as well as Wesleyan faculty members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review student records provided by Wesleyan to determine suitability of Orton-Gillingham services.
- Conduct initial assessments to determine educational plan for remediation.
- Provide ongoing individual tutoring sessions as determined by initial assessments and agreed upon by parents, Wesleyan staff, and practitioner.
- Communicate with Wesleyan administration and staff regularly.
- Collaborate with current Orton-Gillingham practitioners and follow the established guidelines of the Orton-Gillingham approach.
- Provide monthly written communication to Wesleyan staff and parents of identified students.
- Provide monthly invoices directly to parents.
- Strong grounding in the Christian faith.
- Bachelor’s degree in education.
- Orton-Gillingham training by an accredited site.
- Prior Orton-Gillingham tutoring experience.
- AOGPE practicum or IDA certification (completed or in progress).
